For bulk carrier and tankers above 10 years of age.
Some Basic reponsibilities of Chief officer are
1) Chief officer should have access plan to the location being surveyed for enhanced survey program, which includes risk assessment for such a operation.
2) Chief officer should ensure proper illumination and ventillation is available througout survey operation.
3) Ensures proper communication is maintained and there is viable rescue plan.
A survey planning questionnaire and survey program is required to be prepared by owners at least 6 months in advance and submitted to classification society .
ESP includes close up survey for thickness measurement of plates.
Chief officer should have the following plans / documents readily available.
1) Structural plan
2) Hull damage report (If any)
3) Tank Inspection report
4) Repair report (If any)
5) Capacity plan
6) Shell expansion plan
